Playset Site Preparation Checklist

Playset assembly begins with the product, boxes, access, and installation area ready for review. Use this checklist to prepare the yard, confirm deliveries, identify utilities and sprinklers, and gather the information Redhawk needs before scheduling playset assembly.

Quick Playset Readiness Checklist

  • Exact product link and model available
  • Manufacturer manual located
  • Box count confirmed
  • All cartons delivered and onsite
  • Visible shipping damage documented
  • Installation footprint reviewed
  • Required use-zone clearance reviewed
  • Site reasonably level and ready
  • Gate and yard access confirmed
  • Sprinklers and buried utilities considered
  • 811 contacted when required
  • Manufacturer anchors onsite
  • Weather and ground conditions acceptable
  • Children and pets kept away
  • HOA, landlord, or property approval confirmed when applicable

Confirm the Exact Product and Model

  • Product names alone may not identify the exact model — provide the retailer or manufacturer link.
  • Confirm all cartons and carton numbers.
  • Photograph damaged packaging before opening.
  • Keep manuals, labels, hardware, and loose pieces together.
  • Do not discard packaging before assembly is completed and checked.
  • Report used, previously assembled, relocated, or partially assembled playsets in advance.
  • Missing or damaged structural parts may prevent completion.

Review the Manufacturer Footprint

  • Use the manufacturer’s assembled footprint.
  • Include the required use-zone or safety clearance.
  • Consider slides, swings, ladders, climbing walls, doors, roofs, and moving components.
  • Maintain clearance from fences, structures, trees, utilities, drainage areas, and other obstacles.
  • Manufacturer specifications control — do not use one universal clearance measurement.

Prepare a Reasonably Level Site

Redhawk’s playset assembly service assumes the installation area is already reasonably level, accessible, and ready for assembly.

  • Site grading is not included.
  • Excavation is not included.
  • Adding or removing soil is not included.
  • Retaining walls are not included.
  • Concrete pads or footings are not included.
  • Drainage correction is not included.
  • Significant slope or uneven ground requires correction before assembly.

Plan Yard and Gate Access

  • Gate width
  • Fenced yards
  • Long carries
  • Stairs
  • Steep paths
  • Narrow side yards
  • Locked gates
  • Pets
  • Parking distance
  • Community access rules
  • Whether boxes are already in the backyard
  • Whether assembled sections must pass through gates

Utilities, Sprinklers, and Ground Anchors

  • Customers are responsible for identifying underground utilities, irrigation, and private lines.
  • Contact 811 when required before ground penetration.
  • Private sprinkler, lighting, drainage, pet-fence, or other lines may not be marked by 811.
  • Manufacturer anchors and hardware should be onsite.
  • Anchoring suitability depends on the model, soil, site, and manufacturer instructions.
  • Ground-anchor installation may be included when reviewed and accepted.

Important:

  • Redhawk does not guarantee anchoring in every soil condition.
  • Anchoring does not eliminate all risk.
  • Concrete anchoring or concrete work is not included unless separately approved.

Weather and Ground Conditions

  • Rain and saturated soil
  • Mud and soft ground
  • Lightning
  • High winds
  • Extreme heat
  • Wet components
  • Inaccessible yards

Weather and ground conditions may delay or reschedule outdoor work. Weather-proof completion dates are not promised.

Keep the Work Area Clear

  • Keep children and pets away from the active work area.
  • Clear the assembly zone of toys, furniture, and yard items.
  • Maintain a safe perimeter around tools and partially assembled structures.
  • Ensure the assembler has room to work on all sides of the playset.

Projects Requiring Additional Review

  • Larger or unusually complex sets
  • Treehouses (excluded)
  • Site leveling and concrete work (excluded)
  • Relocation projects
  • Commercial playsets
  • Sets requiring concrete anchoring
  • Sets with missing or damaged structural parts
  • Previously assembled or partially assembled sets

Important:

  • Redhawk targets smaller and manageable residential playsets.
  • Relocation projects may include disassembly, loading/unloading assistance, and reassembly only when separately reviewed.
  • Customer-provided transportation may be required for accepted relocation projects.
  • Transportation is not included by default.

This guide applies to accepted residential playsets and swing sets. Treehouses, major roofed structures, concrete work, site grading, and unrelated recreation-equipment projects are outside the scope of this guide.
