TV Mounting Preparation Checklist

Before requesting TV mounting, gather the television model, mount specifications, wall information, desired placement, and access details. This checklist helps Redhawk review compatibility, installation requirements, and site conditions before scheduling.

Quick TV Mounting Checklist

  • TV brand and model available
  • TV size and approximate weight confirmed
  • VESA pattern checked
  • Mount link or model provided
  • Mount rated for the TV’s size and weight
  • Fixed, tilt, or full-motion mount selected
  • Wall location photo provided
  • Wall material disclosed if known
  • Desired viewing position considered
  • Outlet and cable location reviewed
  • Soundbar, shelf, or accessory disclosed
  • Apartment or rental permission confirmed
  • Decorative wall panels disclosed
  • TV over 55 inches disclosed
  • Existing mount or removal work disclosed

Identify the Television

  • Provide the exact television brand and model number.
  • Screen size alone does not determine compatibility.
  • Check the VESA mounting-hole pattern on the back of the TV.
  • Note the approximate weight without the stand.
  • Confirm whether the original TV stand or base needs to be removed.

Confirm Mount Compatibility

  • Check the VESA pattern, weight rating, size rating, and bracket design.
  • Required television screws, spacers, and mount hardware should be onsite.
  • A universal mount is not automatically compatible with every television or wall.
  • Full-motion mounts create different leverage and placement considerations from fixed or tilting mounts.
  • Follow the mount and television manufacturer instructions.

Choose the Mount Type

  • Fixed — sits flat against the wall.
  • Tilting — allows vertical angle adjustment.
  • Full-motion (articulating) — extends, swivels, and tilts.
  • Single-stud mounts — for lighter TVs where only one stud is available.
  • Manufacturer-specific mounts — designed for a particular TV model.

Not every mount type is suitable for every television or wall.

Review the Wall

Please disclose any of the following that apply:

  • Drywall with wood studs
  • Possible metal studs
  • Concrete or cinderblock
  • Wall panels
  • Uneven or sloped surfaces
  • Existing holes or previous mount
  • Built-in cabinetry
  • Nearby windows, switches, outlets, vents, or doors

Redhawk scope:

  • Brick mounting is not targeted.
  • Concrete and cinderblock require individual review.
  • Metal studs require advance review.
  • Decorative acoustic or wood panels may require cutouts or another mounting approach.
  • Drywall anchors alone are not automatically appropriate for a television.
  • Universal fastener or weight-rating guarantees are not provided.

Select the Viewing Location and Height

  • Seating position and primary viewing angle
  • Screen center height relative to eye level
  • Glare from windows and light fixtures
  • Furniture height and room layout
  • Mount extension and swivel clearance
  • Nearby doors and walkways
  • Soundbar placement
  • Floating shelves and cable reach

No single universal mounting height works for every room \u2014 consider your seating position and comfort.

Plan Cables, Outlets, and Connected Devices

  • Disclose outlet location relative to the TV.
  • List connected devices (streaming sticks, soundbars, gaming consoles).
  • Note visible cable preferences.
  • Standard external cable organization may be reviewed.
  • Existing wiring and unusual cable-routing requests require review.

Redhawk does not install new outlets, concealed wiring, or in-wall electrical work. Code-compliant in-wall cable routing is not promised unless that exact work is an active approved service.

Apartments and Rental Properties

  • Written or documented property permission
  • Wall-mount restrictions
  • Metal-stud possibility
  • Permitted fasteners
  • Move-out restoration expectations
  • Elevator and parking access
  • Wall-panel or finish restrictions

Customer confirmation of permission does not guarantee that every wall or mounting condition is suitable.

Large TV Installations

  • Redhawk will determine the appropriate installation setup based on the TV size, mounting location, and project requirements.
  • Very large, unusually heavy, high, fireplace, or specialty installations require individual review.
  • Send the TV model, size, and approximate weight so the installation can be reviewed before scheduling.

Special Wall and Room Conditions

  • Fireplace installations
  • Extremely large or heavy TVs
  • High or unusual mounting heights
  • Brick or stone surfaces
  • Metal studs
  • Concrete or cinderblock
  • Decorative wall panels
  • Recessed or built-in locations

These conditions require individual review and are not automatically accepted.
